What agents look for

At the final inspection, the agent compares the property with the condition report from when you moved in. Kitchens, bathrooms, floors and windows get the closest look.

In Victoria, renters are expected to leave the property reasonably clean, allowing for fair wear and tear. If it isn't, the cost of cleaning can be claimed from the bond.

Our end of lease checklist covers the areas agents usually check. The final call is always the agent's, so we focus on doing every item on the list properly.

End of lease cleaning, explained

What a move-out clean includes, what agents check and how to plan it.

01

What an end of lease clean includes

A move-out clean covers every room, top to bottom: the kitchen including the oven, cooktop and rangehood; bathrooms, toilets and the laundry; inside cupboards and wardrobes; skirting boards, doors, switches and wall marks where they can be removed; inside windows and tracks; and all floors. Carpet steam cleaning can be added if your lease asks for it.

02

What's expected in Victoria

Renters are expected to leave the property reasonably clean, compared with how it was at the start of the lease and allowing for fair wear and tear. Your entry condition report is the benchmark, so it's worth reading it again before you move out. If the property isn't left clean, cleaning costs can be claimed from the bond. This is general information, not legal advice.

03

What affects the price

End of lease cleans are usually priced by the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, then adjusted for the property's condition, oven and rangehood build-up, extra living areas, balconies and carpet cleaning. A studio to 2-bedroom apartment is usually $300–$450 including GST. Tell us the size of the property and your move-out date, and you'll get a clear price before any work starts.

04

Timing your clean

Book the clean for after your furniture and belongings have gone, so every room and cupboard can be done. Leave time before the final inspection in case anything needs a touch-up, and make sure the power and water are still connected on the day.

05

Is end of lease cleaning worth it?

It saves a long day of cleaning at an already busy time, and it's done to a checklist based on what agents usually look for. No cleaner can promise a bond outcome, because the inspection is up to your agent, but a thorough clean gives you the best chance of handing back the keys without a cleaning claim.

06

What isn't included

Heavy mould, pest control, rubbish removal, gardens and outdoor areas, wall repairs and painting aren't part of a standard end of lease clean. Tell us about them when you ask for a quote, and we'll say what we can help with.

Good to know

  • Please make sure the power and water are still on for the clean.

  • Our 24-hour re-clean guarantee: If your agent flags anything on our checklist at the final inspection, send us their written list within 24 hours and we'll come back and fix it free. How long does an end of lease clean take?

It depends on the size and condition of the property. A small apartment can take a few hours; a larger house can take a full day.

Do I need to be there?

No. As long as we can get in and the property is empty, you can leave it with us.

Is the oven included?

Yes. The oven, cooktop and rangehood are all on our checklist.

Can you steam clean the carpets too?

Yes. Add carpet steam cleaning and we'll do it on the same day, with a receipt for your agent.

Do you clean walls?

We spot-clean marks where possible. Some marks, like scuffs on flat paint, can't be removed without damaging the paint.

Do you guarantee I'll get my bond back?

No one can honestly promise the bond itself, because the inspection is up to your agent. What we guarantee is our clean: if your agent flags anything on our checklist at the final inspection, send us their written list within 24 hours and we'll come back and fix it free. Guarantee terms.
