What cleaning can do for a mattress, and what it can't.
A mattress can't be soaked like carpet, so it's cleaned in layers: a deep vacuum of the top, sides, seams and edges, then stain treatment, then a low-moisture clean of the surface. Keeping the moisture low means the inside stays dry and the mattress is ready to sleep on the same day.
Mattress cleaning is usually priced by size and by the number of mattresses, from single to king. Heavy stains, urine and cleaning both sides of a flippable mattress add time. A single or double is usually $80–$130 including GST. Tell us the sizes and any stains, and you'll get a clear price before any work starts.
Leave the bed unmade for a few hours after the clean, with a window open or a fan running if you can. Most mattresses are dry by the evening. Put the protector and sheets back on once it's dry to the touch.
Sweat marks, fresh spills and recent accidents usually improve a lot. Older stains, especially blood and urine that have soaked in and dried, often fade rather than disappear. We'll tell you before we start which marks are likely to stay.
Cleaning can't fix sagging, broken springs, mould or water damage. A mattress with mould, or one that has been soaked right through, usually needs replacing. If we see signs of either, we'll tell you rather than clean it.
Use a waterproof mattress protector and wash it with your sheets. Air the bed each morning before making it, rotate the mattress every few months and vacuum it when you change the linen. Deal with spills and accidents straight away by blotting, not soaking.
